Xiaomi is working with the robot ‘CyberDog’

Recently, Xiaomi reported about a robot dog named ‘CyberDog’. The company has also introduced the robot dog to developers so that they can work on it and create applications for it.

Boston Dynamics’ robot Spot has similarities with Xiaomi’s robot dog, according to technology blog Engadget. At the core of CyberDog is the world’s smallest AI supercomputer, Nvidia’s Jetson Xavier’s NX.

In all, there are 11 sensors in the CyberDog’s ‘body’. It also has the touch and ultrasonic sensors. It has also a GPS and a camera so that the robot can interact with the environment.

Xiaomi says the technology is effective in helping CyberDog follow its owners and avoid obstacles. It is also has capable of gesture recognition or human face tracking. As a result, CyberDog can easily find or track one of the groups of individuals.

Xiaomi is not selling Cyberdog as a generic product. For now, one thousand such robot dogs will be given to “Xiaomi fans, engineers and robotics enthusiasts” so that they can “jointly explore the immense potential of CyberDog”.

The CyberDog, with its in-house advanced high-performance servo motor, has a wide range of movements as well as running, jumping, turning left or right. and leaning forward. It can also do a backflip, roll around, and stand on its rear legs. It has the highest walking speed of 3.2m/s and a maximum payload of 3kg.

However, the robot cannot be collected for free. Those interested will have to spend nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine yuan or about one and a half thousand dollars.

One ‘open-source community’ hosted by Xiaomi will be tasked with facilitating the whole process. Later, a robotics lab may be set up for the purpose of “future innovation”.
